ITRO® Disciplines: Release Management

As part of Maryville's ITRO® methodology, Release Management focuses upon
successful deployment of software and hardware alterations into the managed IT
production environment by:
- Ensuring all aspects of a release are considered together in coordination with Change Management
- Coordinating releases for large or critical hardware and software rollouts, or bundled, related sets of changes
- Assuring release components being changed are traceable, secure, and only authorized versions are installed
- Covering all projects, enhancements, upgrades, and patches using a Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Improved service quality resulting from the use of a consistent, disciplined process
- More productive use of resources during preparation and roll out activities
- Enhanced expectation setting for business and service support staff
- Improved historical data by maintaining a complete change audit trail
- Improved savings from centralized control of software at remote sites
- Assurance that hardware and software in the live, production environment is known, thereby reducing incidences of illegal, wrong, or unauthorized copies in use
